Our Objective
Portsmouth Climate Action, a committee of Seacoast Climate Action Now, works to empower the Portsmouth community—residents, businesses, organizations, and schools—to take action to reduce climate change. These actions will
-
lower our community’s greenhouse gas emissions and toxic chemicals
-
increase the number of climate-aware and active citizens
-
accelerate progress on the development and implementation of Portsmouth’s climate action plan.
Portsmouth Climate Action is run completely by volunteers. The group works closely with the city of Portsmouth Department of Planning and Sustainability and the Sustainability Committee, while maintaining an independent voice. Portsmouth Climate Action will be reaching out to partner with many individuals, organizations, and businesses.
Community Conversations
We are bringing you a series of Community Conversations to foster a dialogue about greenhouse gas reductions and to generate ideas from you to inform the city’s Climate Action Plan. We have had two events so far with more being planned over the next few months. The series is sponsored by Seacoast CAN, Portsmouth Climate Action, and Portsmouth Smart Growth. Click the links for summaries of the completed sessions.
